Human + AI.
One drawing. One light. Scroll, or let it roll.
For years it looked flat.
The length of task an AI can finish alone doubled about every seven months. Lately, every four. In 2019, two seconds. In 2026, sixteen hours and counting. The chart ran out of paper.
Doubling is hard to feel.
Eight doublings turn a business card into a square metre. This curve has done about fifteen since 2019, and it is not slowing down.
Half the room wants the stop button.
52% of Americans are more worried than excited. 9% are the other way. The worry is not foolish: jobs, art, power, truth. It deserves a better answer than “trust us”.
The other half has the throttle at eleven.
900 million people a week. Half a trillion dollars a year. More of everything, faster. Speed is not a direction.
The frontier is jagged.
Inside it, consultants with AI did 40% better work. One step outside, they were 19 points more likely to be wrong. Developers felt 20% faster and measured 19% slower. Knowing which side you are on is the job.
Human + AI.
A light is only useful when someone is holding it.
AI does the routine work. People check every change.
It is how Bolted already works: more made than two people could ever make, and nothing shipped that one of us has not checked.
Nobody knows where this goes. We are here for it.
Not less. Not more. Better, with a hand on the light.
The rest is not drawn yet.
1300 millimetres so far. One light, one hand.
One light, and what it means.
The second reel in the format. The set is one drawing, 1300 mm long; the only actor is a light; the scroll is the camera. New here: the light changes colour with what it means. White is raw capability. Red is the hand on the stop button. Amber is the throttle. Cyan is the moment somebody takes hold of it.
| The argument | Hook, teach, divide, prove, turn, work, open end. A curve that leaves its chart; doubling taught with paper sizes; the two camps as two machines, a stop button and a throttle; the evidence as a line the light has to walk; the belief as a lamp with a handle; the work as volume through a gate where two people sign; and an ending that is honestly blank. |

| The numbers | Sources are listed in HUMAN-AI.md beside this page. |
| The controls | Roll plays it in one minute. The chapter bar, 1 to 9 and the arrow keys jump. Space rolls. N opens the director's notes. |
| The format | Built on the reel kit extracted from LAB-16. A new reel is a drawing, a cut and a page. The recipe is in REELS.md. |
